"An intervention saved my life and led to a completely new way of living. I will be forever grateful to the process and want to give back what has been given to me---freedom from addiction and the opportunity to share my experience in service to those still suffering"- Donna Chavous |

AboutBoard Registered Interventionist (Level) II Donna Chavous entered the recovery community in 1995 kicking and screaming, not wanting to change her life. She was introduced to recovery through an intervention by a friend, her family and the local police department. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Donna graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in English and headed straight to the Hollywood scene. She stepped into the fast lane, representing actors as a Hollywood agent, and eventually crashed and burned. A few years after getting sober and returning to Hollywood, she suffered the loss of a colleague and a client from the disease of addiction. These losses dramatically changed her perspective on life, so she decided to take a job at a treatment center in Malibu, California. While working at the treatment center, Donna further enhanced her knowledge of how addiction affects the family as well as the patient. Sober for 16 years, she believes that her experience with people from all walks of life has enabled her to utilize her gift of gab to compassionately guide those who need help to make a positive change. Donna loves the intervention process. It saved her life and has allowed her to assist others in potentially saving theirs. She currently resides in New York City and has been performing interventions nationwide for the past nine years. BioDonna Chavous is a Board Registered Addiction Specialist and a former alcoholic and crystal meth addict. She has been involved in her own personal recovery for seventeen years and professionally for ten. She graduated from the University of Southern California and began work in Hollywood at Creative Artists Agency, which represents many of the top names in entertainment in the world. Shortly after joining the company she became the first African American to be promoted to agent at the firm. She worked her way to the top of the industry, representing, Sharon Stone, Stevie Wonder and Jamie Foxx, among other great talents. Seven and a half years later she spiraled into addiction and depression. Donna abandoned her career and travelled the road toward destruction. A successful Intervention began her recovery process and she got sober. She resumed her career in the entertainment field as an executive with Russell Simmons and then with her own company. During those seven years back in the industry Donna witnessed many friends and colleagues die from addiction. This inspired her to leave Hollywood and join the staff at Promises Malibu treatment center. There she had the opportunity to work with patients for the entire program; from detox through all treatment modalities. She began to fully understand the benefits of quality care and developed a deeper compassion for herself and others who suffer from addiction. Donna was then trained to facilitate Interventions by Ken Seeley, Founder of Intervention 911. Since then she has done Interventions throughout the United States and Internationally. Throughout her career in the field, Donna has maintained a 98% success rate of bringing addict’s into treatment. She is also a firm believer in a Continuum of Care after in patient rehab. “Going to treatment is only the beginning of a long process of recovery. Addicts need as much time as possible to heal and gain distance from destructive lifestyles. In most cases you may only get one chance to help the addict change direction in their lives. It is vitally important for family and friends to stay the course with their loved one. They must maintain the same support and bottom lines that they put forth in the Intervention, throughout their loved ones recovery”. Donna is available for public speaking engagements.
